Introducing the very first Altex Two-Handed Western Circuit offshore yacht race! 

Organised under the authority of Lowry Bay Yacht Club Inc

This event will be an approximately 300NM, two-handed offshore race, starting and finishing in Wellington Harbour, avoiding time consuming stopovers, and long delivery trips for sailors in our Central Region.

 

The race will leave Wellington, round the Kupe gas platform, round a virtual mark off Farewell Spit, sail over the top of Stephens Is, then return to Wellington Harbour. See the map below.

Entries are open to Cat 2 (suitably modified) yachts with female, male and mixed crews, with a strong female participation encouraged.

We would love to see more women join the offshore racing scene!

Having completed the Two-Handed Western Circuit, it may well set you up for bigger offshore races like the Central Triangle or Round North Island.

The race is set for Easter 2025. Most yachts will complete the race in three, or at the most four days, minimizing time away from family and work. To sweeten the deal, there is free berthage at Seaview Marina for up to ten days for visiting yachts that enter, including from RPNYC and EBYMBC!
